Just the briefest of notes to thank you all for looking after our party so well yesterday. Everybody taking part had a great experience – they learned to cast, they caught fish, ate cream teas by the lake and all topped out with a wonderful supper. Brilliant! I’m absolutely certain you will see many of them return , I know Kate had a fantastic time as did I – and what a privilege to fish such a lovely river even though I suspect I would have to get in some gym time to fish Bottom Beat regularly!
Do pass on my thanks to all your team but particularly to Dave and Tim who were so patient and helpful, even when our ‘experienced’ angler turned up without kit!

Sorry to have missed you before setting back for Godstone, but all in a good cause by the look of it! I had a most enjoyable stay at the Arundell Arms. Your staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel itself creates a great atmosphere. Shame about the salmon, but I have come to understand that talking about the one that got away, or spat the hook out, or jumped in front of you really is at least as important as catching one – well that is I suppose until you have actually caught one! I will certainly get onto trip advisor. Please pass on my thanks to David, Roy and Tim for a most enjoyable couple of days learning fishing.

Dear Becky,
I think this really will be the last email from me – at least till we want to come and stay again! – but I just wanted to write and thank you and ALL the staff at The Arundell Arms for all you help and friendliness over the execution of my husband’s 80th birthday celebrations last weekend.
I cannot tell you how much heart-searching and worrying has gone on this end, both about the menu and the wines, but also the sleeping arrangements and how everyone would occupy themselves on Saturday! Added to that was the ‘surprise’ magician, and I returned home on Sunday evening shattered, but knowing that everything had gone utterly according to plan, due almost entirely to the calm efficiency of everyone at the hotel.
I really am extremely grateful to you all for your patience and assistance, and would ask you to pass on my thanks to everyone, most especially Steve for his delicious birthday dinner (which was everything my husband had hoped it would be), and also to Melvin (?) the head waiter for his calm organisation and thoughtful little touches both evenings. They were all very much appreciated.
All the family enjoyed the weekend, and it was an occasion to remember for everyone. I know without doubt that we will be back again before too long, and we both look forward to our next visit.

We were at the Arundell Arms at Lifton for a work thing and after a day spent sitting around a table, writing on a flipchart and generally having to behave, all I wanted was to jump in some water. Luckily there just happened to be the perfect lake nearby, owned by the hotel. They use it to give fishing lessons. It's an old quarry and is serenely beautiful. I'd been chatting to the owner in the bar, and asked if we could have a swim. No problem, he said. How refreshing, no sharp intakes of breath and concern about health and safety issues. So at the close of play Kirk, Emma and I headed for the lake and dived in. Bliss. Thank you to Michael Marker for the great shot, and to the Arundell Arms for the swim.
