Yet again we've picked up another fabulous award that recoginses not only our commitment to quality and service but also our passion for using local ingredients throughout our seasonal menus. We will now go through to the 'Best of' winners award ceremony which takes place on the 29th September in Bristol. Keep your fingers crossed for us...

This is the third time that we have won Gold for Business Hotel but the first time we have won a Silver for Sustainable Tourism.

The Arundell Arms Hotel at Lifton is delighted to announce that Tracey Yelland has won the Level 2 Professional Cookery Apprenticeship award of Apprentice of the Year 2013 at Exeter College Annual Student Awards Ceremony on Monday 1st July.
Tracey said “ when I was first told that I had been nominated for the award it brought a big smile to my face, just knowing that I had been acknowledged for the effort I have put in during this College year. Winning it has made me even more thankful for the opportunities The Arundell Arms and Exeter College have given me. I very much look forward to beginning my Level 3 in September with the support of the brilliant chefs and work colleagues at The Arundell Arms and the chefs, tutors and teachers at Exeter College.”
Tracey started at the Arundell Arms as a junior trainee apprentice chef in September 2012. Her potential was soon recognized. In January 2013 she entered her first Salon Culinaire catering competition where she won the Gold Medal for “Best in Class”. In February 2013 she volunteered to join the Exeter College apprentice display team demonstrating to the trade and members of the public at the premier catering event Expo-West. Tracey had just returned from her last competition, where she entered one live and one static event earning her silver and bronze medals respectively.
When she is not at College or competing she is a hard-working member of the Arundell Arms kitchen brigade. Head Chef, Steven Pidgeon is extremely pleased with her progress and said “ I have a feeling that this young lady has a great deal to offer and will go far in this industry”.
Ashley Gee, from Exeter College said “Tracey has been a great student to work with this year truly dedicated and hardworking who richly deserves this award, and I am sure that it will not be the only accolade that she receives in the years ahead in this industry.”
We are delighted to have won the Visit England Business Tourism award for 2013. We won the Bronze on 20 May in a wonderful celebration in Manchester.
Following an extremely succesful Devon Tourism Awards, which saw The Arundell Arms pick up 4 awards including the coveted winner of winners award, we were successful at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
The awards took place on Friday 8th February at the Eden project in Cornwall. The Arundell Arms won in two categories; Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience Of The Year where we won bronze and the Business Tourism Award where we won silver. We weer also a finalist for Small Hotel of the Year.
We now go on to the Visit England awards later in 2013.
