COURSE 4
Advanced salmon casting
A weekend residential course.
A one and a half day course on salmon casting techniques, designed
for the trout fisherman wishing to progress to salmon fishing
or for the salmon fisherman wishing to advance his or her casting
skills. It is not really suitable for the complete newcomer to
fly fishing since we assume a certain knowledge of basic casting
techniques.
The course covers:
- Fly Casting. Overhead, false casting, shooting line, roll casting,
Spey and double Spey, roll casting off water into the overhead
cast, and into the Spey cast, distance casting.
- Bait casting. Fixed spool reel and multiplier.
The course runs from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm on the Saturday with
a break for lunch and from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm on the Sunday.
It will take place on the Tamar and the hotel lake.
Tackle
Please bring your own tackle. For casting with fly either a double-handed
or a single- handed rod is suitable. A sea trout or reservoir
type rod of 9ft to 10ft which takes a 7 to 8 line would be satisfactory.
Should you not have your own tackle, we have tackle for sale or
a limited number of fly rods to loan.
